Senior members of Limerick Cricket Club were glad to see each other once again as our season got under way with our first full training session yesterday evening in Garryowen RFC. After a long break of no cricket during lockdown, it was great to finally be playing the game we love again. With the weather conditions creating a potential for ground damage in Adare, the all-weather pitch in Garryowen RFC was the perfect substitute.
A combination of feasible fielding and fitness drills were exercised during the two hour session to which 25 or so players attended. Not bad for the first turnout!
With competitive sport set to return on June 7th, a fixture list is expected to be published by the MCU in the coming days. It is likely that the annual MCU T20 Blasts will be the introductory competitions this year before the leagues commence some time in July.
