Limerick Cricket Club plays out of its home in the Manor Fields, a multi-purpose complex located on the outskirts of the village of Adare in County Limerick. The facility sees cricket being played almost every weekend of the summer months on its astro-turf wicket, relaid in 2023. The boundary forms a 45m perimeter around the outfield as in oval in shape. The grounds are maintained by the complex and club's head groundsman.
Sporting an average of 150 members now per year, the club's membership has grown exponentially in recent years, mirroring the uptake of the game by men, women and kids across Limerick city and county. With a diverse and inclusive culture, Limerick Cricket Club has been proud to welcome players of all abilities, ages and backgrounds into its realm. Players from Ireland, England, Poland, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa have all represented Limerick Cricket Club in past seasons.
There are 9 teams currently active within our ranks, including four men's teams, four youth teams and one women's team. Our four men's teams compete in the top four divisions of the Munster Cricket Union, boasting a club squad of around 75 players. Furthermore, the club's 1st XI competes in the CI National Cup as well as the Senior Shield. The 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th XI sides also complete in the cup and T20 competitions to their respective divisions. Our 1st and 2nd XI squads train together every Wednesday whilst our 3rd and 4th XI squads train together every Thursday. Each of the club's adult teams has seen an influx of youth players in recent years, with players as young as 12 lining out with their peers. A number of these players have climbed up the ladder to represent the club's 1st XI side.
Our youth teams compete at U11, U13, U15 and U17 level, with a number of players performing across two and even three of these teams. Each of these teams has a number of coaches with the overall youth operation overseen by the club's youth cordinator. Training takes place all year round with indoor training sessions being held at the Factory Southside Youthspace in Limerick city. LCC representatives have made up the bulk of their respective teams for the underage inter-pro competitions which sees the Munster Reds compete against the other provincial unions. Furthermore, the club has now seen four selections to the Ireland underage setup. Both William Shields and Eshan Tanveer were selected in 2025 to be in the U17 and U15 squads respectively, with Shields having previously picked for the U15 squad in 2024. LCC's youth players also play for their respective schools in the Carelon Cup, an annual cricket competition held between secondary schools in Limerick. Mungret Community College, Thomond Community College, St. Clement's College, Villiers School, Crescent College Comprehensive and Coláiste Mhichíl (CBS Sexton Street) have all competed to this date.
2024 saw the launch of the club's women's side with the inauguration of female competitions in the MCU taking place the same year. The women train on a weekly basis and compete in both the T15 Superleague and Celtic Spirit Women's Supercup. The club are the inaugural winners of the Celtic Spirit Women's Supercup, which they won in 2024, captained on the day by Saadia Mahmood.
In addition to wanting to thrive as a competitive club within the open age divisions of the Munster Cricket Union, the Club also has a focus on social aspects. This is despite the fact that we have no clubhouse to help foster this environment and hold club events. This has manifested primarily through Club tours, Club friendlies within Ireland and Club trips. Within the last couple of years, Club tours have included Geneva in Switzerland, Cannes in France, Lanzarote, Malta and a stag weekend in Dingle!
The club holds an active place in the community of Limerick city and county, engaging in many initiatives and retaining links with the County Council, Limerick Sports Partnership and other partners. The club advocates for mental health and sports the Men's Mental Health Awareness ribbon on its jersey.
The club's logo depicts the gates of King John's Castle with two cricket bats crossed over a set of stumps. The founding year of the club as well as its name is pictured in the shielded crest. The club's teams wear a navy strip with green trimmings for their coloured kit in white ball matches. Our kit is manufactured by KP Sports Hub and we are currently sponsored by Carelon Global Solutions, who support our annual awards ceremony which takes place in the Castletroy Park Hotel once the season ends.
The club works closely with the various Schools and Clubs Engagement Officers who work around the province with the aim of growing the game and bringing new members into the club. The club has links with various primary and secondary schools around Limerick which has seen cricket incorporated into different school initiatives in recent years, such as the VIP programme for Transition Year students. Nearby universities, such as University of Limerick and Technological University of the Shannon, have started cricket societies with the hope of competing in inter-varsity competitions nationwide.
The club has an active committee which manages the day-to-day running of the club. This comprises of a chairperson, treasurer, secretary, women's liaison officer, youth cordinator, team manager and other committee roles. The committee are responsible for ensuring members abide by the various club policies in place whilst looking to enhance club development. Every year, the club holds an AGM where membership fees and other aspects of the club's operation are finalised for the forthcoming season. The committee is backed by club captains, coaches, scorers, umpires and other volunteers who make a massive contribution with their time and efforts on a consistent basis.
The club has active pages on social media and publishes posts related to ongoing club activity, maintaining an engagement with more than 3,000 other users across Facebook, X and Instagram. The club posts various articles related to fixtures, results, announcements, achievements and much more. A weekly match report is published on both the club's website and its social media forums, with local news outlets such as Live 95FM, Limerick Leader, Sporting Limerick and Limerick Post providing coverage and promotion of the club's performances.
