Limerick Cricket Club finished off their season with a club day held at their home ground, the Manor Fields, Adare. It was decided that a T10 tapeball tournament would take place with members from the youth, male and female squads all taking part.

With three back to back games, it was fair to say that the youths most definitely came out on top! The young guns took the majority of wickets and hit the large portion of the runs too, really showing up their adult counterparts by dominating the days play. The adults could do nothing in the end but hold their heads in shame with each walk back to the pavilion!

While all the action was taking place, club volunteers helped out around the boundary with preparations for the day. Cuisine from near and far was brought in with some tasty options on display. Music played by resident DJs Maria van de Munckhof and Prasad Hegde to add some festivity to the atmosphere as Saadia Mehmood and Holly Westmoreland put their artistic skills to the test with some lovely face painting.

The day was finished off with the visit of An Garda Síochána to the event. The Gardaí were welcomed as part of their community engagement programme as they look to strengthen ties with local clubs and organisations. Former club members Shane Burke and Chris McGrath were in attendance for the gaurds who then put their cricketing skills to the test in a T10 match against a Limerick XI

Both teams played their hearts out with bragging rights on the line, and after LCC posted a sizeable total of 94 from their 12 overs, the guards battled hard to maintain a steady run rate throughout their innings. Needing 4 runs off the final ball, it was former member Shane Burke who cut a loose delivery outside off to the boundary for 4 to tie the match. 

A plaque was presented by Superintendent Martin Wallace to LCC Chairman Stephen Hackett to commemorate the day which both parties will look to make an annual event for the forseeable future. The guards also brought some refreshments to the game which were swooped up in a matter of minutes!

Feedback for the day was very thankful from all in attendance as friends and family came in numbers to enjoy the day that was in it. The club will take a short break from all activities before looking to resume its Winter indoor programme for youth, male and female members as well as its annual awards night which will take place some time in late November!
